Principles of Differentiation of STL Lending Services
Appendix II to the Library Regulations of the State Technical Library
Effective from March 1st 2005
In accordance with the Statute of the State Technical Library as a central professional
library managed by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic and in
the interest of the satisfaction of legitimate requirements made by library users under
conditions requiring maximum savings during the creation of collections and operation of the
library, these rules are issued specifying the categories of users of the STL and the extent
of services provided.
Category I
designated for:
- Universities and their faculties, secondary schools,
- University professors, senior lecturers, academics and other important representatives of
research and development,
- Organizations including private firms possessing a Company tax identification number
(IČO), provided they pay the registration fee in the amount specified for Category I.
Extent of services provided:
- Lending of individual issues of non-bound periodicals for three days outside the building
of the STL, provided they are duplicate in the STL collections,
- Lending of individual issues of non-bound periodicals outside the building of the STL from
Friday to Monday,
- Renewals of lending periods for books are possible by one month for first-time loans
maximum 30 simultaneous lendings.
Category II
for all other users not included in Category I and III.
Extent of provided services is specified by the Library Regulations of the STL, Part I,
point 3 - Lending Regulations.
- Czech national citizens with temporary residence in the Czech Republic and foreign
citizens with temporary residence in the Czech Republic can take outside of the building of
the STL publications published in Czech, publications in other languages only for a deposit,
- maximum 15 simultaneous lendings.
Category III
designed for:
- Czech national citizens with permanent residence outside the Czech Republic, having
neither permanent not temporary residence in the Czech Republic and use their passport as
their identification,
- foreign citizens with no confirmation of permanent or temporary residence on the territory
of the Czech Republic.
Extent of services provided:
lending of documents for use in the study room.
