The Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) represents a universal internationally comprehensible selection language of a hierarchical type, enabling systematic classification of the universe surrounding us. The UDC notation can be used to numerically describe all fields of human knowledge and activities. UDC is used for systematic filing of documents or data stored on various media (e. g. the Czech National Bibliography on CD-ROM). UDC offers a choice from over 61,000 elements of this traditional selection language together with Czech and English equivalents.
