STL provides both individual and collective users with loan services on the basis of a valid User's Card. Publications which were included in the collections of the library after the year 1978 can be searched for by an user in the OPAC electronic catalogue see Catalogues; publications and journals older than this can be searched for in the traditional card catalogues. An order for a loan can be placed directly by an STL user from the OPAC (see Catalogues); if the publication required is not in the OPAC, then an order can be placed personally, in writing, over the telephone or via e-mail. If the publication required is stored in the Klementinum, it will be accessible within 1 hour; orders for older literature which are stored off-site are executed 3 times a week. Ordered literature must be collected in person. The loan period is 4 weeks. If there is no reservation made by some other interested party on the lent publication, it is possible to prolong the loan period for three time ( at most ), namely on the basis of a request made personally, over the telephone, in writing or via e-mail. If the document required has already been lent to another user, then, upon the request of an interested party, the STL can accept a reservation for the lent publication on the basis of a request made personally or via e-mail.
List of services:
Users' Cards: The borrowing of documents is conditioned by the issue of a User Card the validity of which must be renewed every year. STL will issue a Card after the User Application has been completed and a valid ID card or other document showing the person's identity and which contains data on the permanent or temporary residence within the territory of CR has been presented. For a Czech citizen under the age of 18 who is a holder of an ID card, the written consent of his legal representative is required for the issue of a User Card.
For collective users, STL will issue a User Card after an application
form has been completed, accompanied by a seal of the organisation,
Reg. No., signature of the head of the organisation and of the
authorised representative of the organisation charged with ensuring
contact with STL.
For foreign citizens and persons without citizenship, a User
Card will be issued upon the presentation of a valid passport,
residency permit or a diplomatic card. A foreign citizen without
permanent residence in CR has limited lending rights.
Enquiry Desk: The Enquiry Desk provides the users with information about all the collections, services and activities of STL; it helps with the search for literature in the catalogues and gives bibliographical advice from all sources and databases available in STL. E-mail address: informace@stk.cz |
