    Mission Statement:

    The Central Scientific Library provides research and study process by delivering access to traditional and digital information resources (including Internet as well) for all its users. Its role is to offer students, researchers and visitors as much informations as it can. With its fund of materials, in-house and on-line databases the Library covers all of studying programs at Kharkiv University and literature for the public interest. The Library provide institutional and professional leadership in the delivery of information resources to the local academic community.

      Software: Windows 95,98, NT, Linux.

      3. In 2001 the Library connects to the Internet via leased line.

  3. Library automation

      2. There are 17 workstations in the local library network, 5 printers.
      Software: Linux 4.2, Liber-media, Z 39.50 Liber server.

      3. Standard desktop software are Microsoft Office products and MARC.

  4. Union Catalogue

    5. The Library runs the Union Catalogue of three Kharkiv institutions of higher education.

      Liber-media.

  5. Digital Library

      6. The Central Scientific Library Online Catalogue.

      Based on external sources:

      The Library provides the access to the external fulltext databases available through HTTP (EBSCO, etc.)

  6. New in-house databases

    7. Ucrainica, Kharkiv Region documents.

  7. Electronic document delivery services

    8. The Library is planning EDD in the future.

  8. Other important projects

    9. Upgrades of the Library server, RAID massive for reserve copying. Z-server technology using for the Union Catalogue running. Digitizing the unique documets from the Library's rare books and manuscript collection for the Library Home page.
