    Mission Statement
    cIMeC - Institutul de Memorie Culturala (Institute for Cultural Memory) is a public institution under the Romanian Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs, founded in 1978, as a national organization for the computerized cultural heritage record. It is an institutional member of ICOM (International Council of Museums). Its main activities are: collects, processes, develops and disseminates information concerning movable (including rare books) and immovable cultural heritage, theater performances, cultural institutions, cultural events; develops tools for the collections documentation.

      2. In house software for the Romanian Union Catalogue of Rare Books.

    1. Based on your own production of digital documents

      2. Yes, we run a Digital Library of a) archaeological excavations reports, b) archaeological legislation, c) archaeological methodologies.

    2. If so, what is new in your digitization programmes?

      3. We initiated a programme for the digitization of manuscripts of important Romanian personalities (Eminescu, Enescu).

  5. Research and technology development projects

    6. We are in the process of integrating our main databases (museum objects, monuments, rare books, theater performances), along with the authority files. Current phase: design of the data model and programming of some general software modules.

  6. Other important projects

    7. We were involved in a pilot project of a digital library of Romanian newspaper articles. We provided the cataloguing and web pages generation modules of the experimental software.
