    Mission Statement
AA Software Support provides system and network services to small organisations. Over the past four years we gardually became more involved with library automation. As contractor, we have developed a number of web-interfaces for library catalogues and library applications. Although we have been (and still are) developing with proprietary software, we prefer using open source systems. At the moment we are involved in developing knowledge base systems and e-commerce applications.

  2. Computer networks and Internet connectivity

We are connected to the Internet using Versatel Telecom and KPN Internet Access. We added the Versatel connection recently to meet the growing demand of our customers for web databases. This connection provides expansion possibilities of upto 155mbs.

  3. Library automation
  4. Upto this moment, we prefer using ADLIB (www.adlibsoft.com) for the development of library applications (Windows and Internet). For other purposes we are using open source  PHP/SQL software.

  5. In general HW/SW

Apart from a few servers (ICL/HP) we use standard PC hardware that is assembled on our specification. Our servers run Solaris (one server) and Linux (6 servers), while most of our workstations run Windows 98 and Windows 2000. We develop with GCC, Perl, PHP XML, and ocassionally with Visual Studio.

  6. New in-house databases

None library related. We recently moved to using the Keystone database system for incident management.

  7. Special web services

We provide virtual webserver facilities with a mixed database environment. Special in this setup is the use of a the Windows based ADLIB internet server in an otherwise Unix webserver environment.

  8. Research and technology development projects

Currently we are developing a web-based combined knowledge base and incident management system. The system will be primarily used for our own helpdesk and by one of our customers. But we hope it will be more useful than that.

  9. Other important projects
