Mission Statement
Both libraries are public libraries. The most important is to serve
customers and lend different materials (for example books, cd's, cd-rom's,
videos, magazines, dvd's and so one). We are also very active in internet.
On our websites we have for example a new quiz every month, a christmas
calender music and pictures and with poems/aforisms of our own).
- Computer networks and Internet connectivity
We have 6 computers in library network and two of them are for customers
internet use. Operating system is Windows and we were the first library in
the world which served a possibility to get notification about reserved
material via textmessage.
- Library automation
Our library program is called ATP Origo. It's possible to catalogue for
example hyperlinks and photos in it (covers of books and so on) and a
little bit music or video clips.
We have also our catalogue in web since 1998 and we have it together with
four neighbour libraries. It's also possible to reserve and renew loans via
internet
- Other important projects
A project based on the FRBR, Functional Requirements for Bibliographic
Records - model is supported by the Ministry of Education.
The goal is to test new models for OPACs according to FRBR.
Different relationships between works, expressions, and manifestations
are taken into consideration for creating ways for the users to navigate
in the bibliographic environment.
