Aleph Configuration:

  • Aleph version: 32_6.6,
  • Implemented modules: All modules except circulation.
  • Operating system: HP-UX, release: A.10.01
  • Server: HP 9000/847S, 265MB RAM,
  • Disk space: 4.6GB with mirroring
  • Network: Novell, Ethernet

Major Developments since last ICAU-meeting:

Some new databases were created:

  • TEK - containing full texts of Polish constitutions and images of the original documents, as well as texts of constitutions of some chosen countries in Polish (also accessible via WWW server);
  • ARS - for the Sejm archive documents (only text version);
  • ATV - for the Audiovideo Collection (only text version).

Texts of definitions from dictionary and encyclopedia were incorporated into CLA database (thesaurus records).

Both Polish and English version of Web interface are working. http://bs.sejm.gov.pl.:4001/ALEPH/

July 1997 implementation of Aleph version 3.2_6 patch 06

Major Developments planned:

Implementing of Circulation module.

Open Problems:

WWW server functions are still not enough sophisticated (in comparison with the text version).

There are still periods then WWW server is not active. Starting it every hour is not a solution.

WWW server should be developed regardless of concentrating works on Aleph-500.

It would be nice if all Aleph WWW servers use port 4001. In general when you are using firewall the default port for Internet connection is port 80 and other ports are blocked. It is possible to enable any number of port, but let it be the same for all (or most) of Aleph servers.
