Major Developments since last ICAU-meeting:
- Conversion from Aleph verion 2.5 to
3.2.5-13 (a traumatic experience
especially regarding the SERIAL module)
- Integration of Aleph into the library
home page on the Internet where one can
now find:
- a weekly list of all new
periodical issues received at the
Weizmann Institute of Science,
sorted according to the different
libraries (of which there are
six);
- a monthly list of all new books
received at the Weizmann
Institute of Science, sorted
according to the different
libraries.
Both procedures are achieved by:
- creating the file in Aleph
a)
Periodicals: Iutil 605;
b) Books: Iutils 101, 201, 301
- sending the file to a dummy
printer
- FTP of the files to the homepage
directory

Major Developments planned:
- We plan to start using the circulation module
of Aleph.
- We plan to put on our homepage several forms
connected with acquisitions, ILL and the
photocopy service.
- Since our ACQ module is not connected to our
Finance Department we are considering the
initiation of an interface between the two
systems.
Open Problems:
As one of the stages in starting to use the
circulation module is to mark all the books with
Aleph system numbers and barcodes, we need Iutil
523, for producing spine labels. As we all know,
this Iutil does not work. Thus our project has
already been delayed several months, and it is
still pending.
