The CSIC Libraries Network consists on a multi Aleph instalation in 4 nodes (Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla and Madrid), those, are interconected and produce the union catalog named CIRBIC. More than 87 libraries work in this network producing the different catalogs, monoraphs, serials and maps. At this moment the catalogs holds :

• Monographs 532.688 records (811.042 copies)
• Serials 42.483 titles ( 68.838 collections)
• Maps 5.000 records

Major Developments since last ICAU-meeting:

Customization of the Interlibray Loan Module and SDI/USR module. Screens, manuals and training has been done. SDI will be implemente next autum.

Works related to the GUI interface. The GUI has been translated into Spanish and tested in some libraries of the network.

The LK and LKR fileds had been used in the analytic description in the web.

We had started the process of digitize some covers of our rare books collection and the link with EXT filed to the bibliographic description.

Also in the WEB side we had customized all our catalogs, and add the HELP Spanish screens.

During this year we had put important effort in order to activate our catalog as a Z39.50 server, but it had been not possible because we had been tols after 2 or 3 months that the z39.50 sleph server only works with MARC records. Since we use a tagged format it’s not possible to activate it for the moment.

Major Developments planned:

Implement SDI/USR module globally in the Network.

Implement the CLA module to manage keywords and UCD in the serials catalog.

Continue the integration of images .

Change our ALEPH WEB interface.

Study the procedures to convert from our tagged record to Marc records and viceversa.

Change our 4 nodes ALEPH installation into just one node Aleph installation to have an easy way to manage the calaogs. Then we plan to start studies for the ALEPH 500 conversion.

Open Problems:

Solve the Z39.50 acces with non Marc records.

Have the possibility of displaying HN for serials in the issues screens in the WEB.

Solve the SCAN error problems in the GUI when accesing non accepted authority entries.

Solve the e-mail facility to send SDI information coming from util 45.
