  • We also have 12 stand-alone pc's (7 in the main library and 1 in each branch library) for public use of CD-ROM and 4 stand-alone pc in the main library for public use of word-processing.

Major Developments since last ICAU-meeting:

is the access to Aleph for our users through Internet using the WWW. Our address is www.genvej.bibnet.dk/ALEPH

We have added a database in Aleph containing references to articles and reviews in major serials and newspapers.

We run our homepage on a dedicated WWW-server at the address http://www.gentofte.bibnet.dk
On this server we also run a stumper.

Major Developments planned:

  • - moving on to Aleph version 3.2_6 (scheduled October 1997)
  • - considering moving Aleph to a new server
  • - providing self-loan for our users
  • - providing more pc’s for public use
  • - considering if and when to use Aleph500

Open Problems:

Our major problems are like last year that bugs take far too long time to be solved. The result of this is lack of functionallity, poorer service to our customers and excessive use of staff - all three unacceptable when running a modern public library.

We are not able to draw sufficient statistics from Aleph i.e.: We are not able to draw bibliographic records, sort them to our liking and combine i.e. with holdings and the circulation information on the holdings. We are not able to list bibliographic records where the holdings have a circulation of zero in a specific period.

Furthermore we have not yet received the 3.2_6 version which was sheduled the beginning of 1997. It is now sheduled October 1997.
