Major developments since the last ICAU meeting
The major improvement since last meeting was the installation of
our new server in December 1994 which was a substantional
improvement of the performance when lending out and returning
material in Aleph.
With the change from Aleph version 3.2_3 to 3.2_4 we had system
improvements although we also experienced drawbacks from changes
wanted by others - changes that were obligatory instead of
optional.
Presently we are installing a new database in Aleph containing
references to articles and reviews in major serials and
newspapers.
The plans for next year are
- step by step changing the network protocol to TCP/IP and at
the same time updating/replacing the pc's and replacing the
terminals
- presenting our database on the Internet
- moving on to Aleph version 3.2_5
- together with the townhall building a public information
system
- considering using our CD-ROM's in network
