• Workstations:
  • A total of 116 pc/terminals in Gentofte Public Library.
  • At the main Library 86 PC/terminals, one connnected via TCP/IP; the rest via an internal protocol called IMC. 12 terminals are for public use.
  • Each of the 5 branch libraries have between 4 and 7 pc/terminals of which 2-3 are for public use.
  • Besides that we have 6 stand-alone pc's for public use of CD-ROM and 1 stand-alone pc for public use of word-processing.

Major developments since the last ICAU meeting

With the change from Aleph version 3.2_3 to 3.2_4 we had system improvements although we also experienced drawbacks from changes wanted by others - changes that were obligatory instead of optional.

Presently we are installing a new database in Aleph containing references to articles and reviews in major serials and newspapers.

The plans for next year are

• step by step changing the network protocol to TCP/IP and at the same time updating/replacing the pc's and replacing the terminals
• presenting our database on the Internet
• moving on to Aleph version 3.2_5
• together with the townhall building a public information system
• considering using our CD-ROM's in network
