Major developments since last ICAU meeting
Currently, we are testing the Danish (ICL) version of the Aleph
client, and are going to install a new version later this month.
In early 1996 we expect to provide our customers with this
graphic interface to Aleph. This step is closely connected with
the planned installation of a WWW-server, which is going to
provide access to our Aleph - system from the Internet. At the
time being, we are constructing a prototype - Homepage with links
to other Internet ressources etc.
Major developments planned
Copenhagen is the "cultural city" of (EU)- Europe in 1996. A
major part of this great event will be a large - scale
architectural exhibition in Ballerup, called "Bo i by". As a part
of this event, Ballerup bibliotekerne are going to establish a
"future library" (for 3 months - april - june), called the
Bibliotek 2001 (library 2001). A great number of projects are
currently preparing this event.
One major project will be the enrichment of bibliographical
records with images, sound extracts, full text etc. Other major
projets deal with Internet "navigation", establishing a local
children's network, and a local community information network on
our WWW-server. Finally, we are at the time being planning the
use of CD-ROMs as an integrated part of our network.
