Conclusions - Recomendations

• Before moving ALEPH to Unix make sure that you have a significant amount of Unix experience.

• Be careful about migrating ALEPH versions which have "specials" to help ALEPH to convert them (or at least provide estimate of how much it will cost).

• Make sure that you have a Unix expert available to perform system manager functions.

• Make sure that you try to separate the responsibilities between Unix system management and ALEPH system management (mixing these up causes a lot of confusion and will make problem solving difficult).

• Staff training for using Unix should not be underestimated (e.g. most users find vi difficult compared to VMS text editors).
