- Mission Statement
The Open Library System Center as a part of St. Petersburg State Technical University, provides automated system for the Basic University's Library functioning. The Center is developing the Ruslan library system, which is based on Z39.50 protocol. The Ruslan system, consisting of Z39.50 server, cataloguing client, ILL client, OPAC client, circulation client has been installed in the Basic Library. The Center is deeply involved in future improvement of the Ruslan system and perfection of the library services. The Center is also a leading member of the RUSLANet (Regional University and Science Library Advanced Network in the North-West of Russia) library consortium. The Center provides technical support and future development for the consortium services, which are based on the union catalogue. The specific feature is that the libraries use different library systems, producing bibliographic records in different formats. The RUSLANet system supports the
networking Z39.50-oriented environment for the consortium interconnection as well as for external access.

Catalogue of different types of documents (electronic resources, multimedia resources, etc), electronic registration, ordering and circulation, ILL services. Navigation through catalogue by bibliographic record links and URLs to fulltext resources.
