    Mission Statement

    The Library manages AGRALIN.

AGRALIN is an acronym for 'Agricultural Bibliographic Information System of the Netherlands'. This system is managed by Wageningen UR Library.

Core of this system is the Union Catalogue of Agricultural Books and Periodicals, containing bibliographic data on the collections of more than 50 Dutch libraries with substantial collections on agriculture. Among these are all libraries of the Wageningen Agricultural University, and libraries of agricultural research institutes and experiment stations.

In addition to this, several other bibliographic and factual databases are published by AGRALIN. This form of 'database publishing' on the web has become a large part of our activities.

Through the AGRALIN WWW server, we are offering access to information on Dutch agricultural research and education to a world-wide audience. At the same time, we have constructed the 'Desktop Library'. Students, staff and faculty of the participating organisations have direct access to catalogues, bibliographic and factual databases and full text scientific books and journals from their own desktop.

Finally, we are enabling a number of guest organisations in the field of agricultural research to bring information to the World Wide Web.

The plugin will put the details (e.g. number of scanned pages, path and name of pdf-file) of the requested document in the request-database record. The person who requested the electronic document will be notified by email where he/she can find the pdf-file. In the future we want to link our electronic document delivery service to our software for financial administration.
