Mass drying of frozen books and documents
In the presentation the known drying methods for books are mentioned and units at dispose at the end of the year 2002. The mechanism of book drying and its relation to deformation of book is discussed. Practical steps and technical background of mass drying in controlled atmosphere in the wood-drying kiln is presented and illustrated in photographs. The conditions for minimum deformations and minimum mould grow and acceptable drying velocity are given. The first results of drying great area plans on tracing paper.
