What is a User Account?
A User Account consists of a protected space on the WWW server
an a financial account.
- Protected space on the WWW server
This is a protected directory on the secure WWW server of STL, which is established for the purpose of ensuring the copyright legal protection of documents and the protection of the user when the results of the services performed (according to the user's request) are made available. Access to this directory can only be gained after the password of the user has been entered. On entering his/her password, the user gains access to the main page of the User Account which contains information on the services currently being provided and on the balance of the financial account, including the list of services provided to date and the fees charged for them. The access password is one password which is only known to the user and which enables authorized use of the services provided. In law, the use of this password is of the same significance as the signature of the user. Thus it is inadmissible to give it to another person.
- Financial account
This is the financial amount deposited by the user which is used for the payment of chargeable services provided by the STL.
What is the purpose of the User Account?
Above all, the User Account enables the use of
services, provided by the STL through the Internet without the necessity
of the user's physical presence in STL. By establishing
a User Account, the interested party becomes a user of electronic
services (see STL Library Regulations, part I, chapter 2.3)
and he/she can then start to use these services.
The services provided through User Accounts are ordered
by the user by using the WWW form found in the User Account
and are paid from the financial amount placed in the User Account
(in the form of advance payments).

list of the formats of digital copies offered.
Demo Account
| Note: This demo account is situated on the server www.stk.cz,
while the real User Accounts are situated on the secured server
service.stk.cz. Access to the secured server is slightly
different from that of the common WWW server. If you want
to try out communication with a secured server and to look what
a User Account situated on it looks like, then click the link below. The address of the server is https://service.stk.cz; after logging on the server, you will have to confirm several checking questions from the browser as concerns access to the secured server, and when the introductory page of the User Accounts appears and you are prompted for a number of a User Account, enter demo, and for the following prompt for a user name and access password, enter demo in both boxes again (be careful about small and capital letters because the system distinguishes between them; this is why it is necessary to enter the letters as indicated in all three cases). Then you gain access to the copy of a demo account situated on the secured server. |
Description of the demo account:
After entering the authorization data which consists of:
- the identification number of the account
- the user name
- the access password
On this page, the following data are stated:
- identification data of the owner of the account (name of the actual person or the name of the institution)
- up-to-date financial balance which is currently available
- references to other User Account pages
- services currently being provided, or more precisely, individual orders with information on their progress.
