    Mission Statement
    University of Latvia is managing Latvian Educational Informatization System project (http://www.liis.lv). Its aim is to introduce information technologies in the educational system of the State. The project is financed by the Government. The activities of the project are: improvement of IT infrastructure, software development, continuing education of employees, development of education content and providing information services. School library automation system is one of the software products developed in the project.

  2. Software

    3. A library automation system is developed to meet the needs of school libraries and small public libraries. It contains Cataloguing, OPAC, Reports, Circulation, Acquisition and Administration modules. A Z39.50 client module is in test phase. Currently it is used by 70 libraries in Latvia.

  3. Future plans

    4. Further development of the library system, development of Z39.50 server module.
